The college is managed by the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Memorial Society and was established on 21st June 1970 with the noble objective of providing quality education to socially, educationally, and economically disadvantaged sections of society. The college is situated at the historic and sacred Deeksha Bhoomi in the heart of Chandrapur city. On 16th October 1956, the historic Dhamma Deeksha ceremony was held at this very place, where Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar embraced Buddhism along with nearly three lakh followers. Since then, this land has become world-renowned as "Deeksha Bhoomi." It stands today as a symbol of social equality, self-respect, and human liberation, inspiring millions of followers across the country. The primary objective of the institution is to provide opportunities for higher education to students from the Bahujan community and other underprivileged sections who were deprived of education for generations. Inspired by the message "Learn, Organise and Agitate," the institution continuously strives to develop knowledge, discipline, confidence, leadership qualities, social responsibility, and humanitarian values among students. Under the guidance of the present President, Hon'ble Arun Ghotekar, the institution is progressing steadily towards academic, intellectual, cultural, and spiritual excellence. Every year, on 15th and 16th October, the institution organizes the Annual Dhamma Chakra Anuvartan Day programme at Deeksha Bhoomi, where scholars, intellectuals, and Buddhist monks from India and abroad guide and inspire lakhs of devotees.
